New Music Obsessions
Oct. 25th, 2005 03:31 pmLisa Gerrard, who is probably most known for her work with Dead Can Dance and the Whale Rider soundtrack (and Gladiator, I guess, whatever), is my newest "mellow music" obsession. I found her through West Wing, of all things. One of the tracks on "Mirror Pool" (linked above) appeared in an episode... I want to say during a funeral. Regardless, it haunted me, and I tracked that sucker down. Well worth the $.10 download.
The soundtrack from Battlestar Galactica has me caught, as well. Taiko drumming, ethereal vocals reminiscent of Lisa Gerrard, multi-cultural influences... I can't get over how much work they put into the music for this series.
Old obsession, new album. Nickel Creek's newest is still waiting on my flash drive for me to listen. I can't wait!
Also tracked down some early Irish instrumentals by The Corrs. I loved them before they went the American Pop route, and I find that the love for the earliest stuff grows stronger the further from their roots they wander.
And that's all for now. Back to work for me!
