Okay, Cernock is probably not aware of this firewall thing yet. And if he is, he's probably already figured out a way around it. Regardless, I don't think the firewall is going anywhere any time soon. Which sucks.

Other things about firewalls: I agree with the general hacker-geek sentiment that the government has WAY too much control over computer/internet technology guidelines. Oy. And there are a LOT of problems out there that firewalls protect against. I agree with the fundamental purpose of firewalls - with the reasons they were created in the first place. Unfortunately, in my immediate experience, the DU firewall is NOT being used as a protection against criminal use and attack; it's a highly sophisticated LEASH. And Cernock's holding the other end.

And it's FRUSTRATING!

Okay, y'all, that's it for now.

Seriously, though, go download Blisse!!! (See link in last entry)

Web

Sailing the thermals,
I gaze down through the clouds
And see the fine lines crossing,
The web of the world.

Delicate, fragile,
A spider's steel,
The hope of millions
stitching together,
The fabric of life.

The strands stick to some,
Suffocating, terrifying.
If only they would learn to trace
The gentle weave,
To dance above the harsh lights
On wires of silk.

Instead, they choke,
Bound up in ropes too tight,
Struggling against the chains of life,
Screaming at their helplessness.

I pity them,
Imprisoned in their self-made cocoons.
But I cannot tear the strings
From their trembling bodies.

My strength is found
In internal grace,
In the peace one can reach
Only by taking hold of a single thread
And floating above the turmoil
On a healing wind.
