Oh, just random stuff
Aug. 21st, 2004 07:39 amI slept for 16 hours straight. Didn't even hear the phone or my alarm. Can't believe how tired I must've been. MAN.
Have assignment for work: transcribe 50-page stage management manual for Krista. Did 4 hours' worth already, and I'm only 15 pages in. Thankfully I can listen to/watch movies simultaneously. Also, this manual is really interesting. Lots of good tips on how to be an effective stage manager. Michael gave me NO help in this area during "Singin' in the Rain," though in his defense, I didn't show up until two weeks before opening night, so maybe he didn't have time. *shrug*
Got to talk to Sierra and Sheppy this evening! Yay for good phone conversations in quick succession! (Also got to threaten Sheppy with bodily damage on behalf of Sierra the Protective. Hee hee.)
Have hooked Sierra on Terry Pratchett. Am exceedingly proud of said accomplishment. :-D
Have learned important lesson: a bowl of Lucky Charms (or three) is not a complete meal. It is a snack on steroids.
Did laundry at 3 in the morning, and the whole building smelled like lemon floor wax. The cleaning staff has been busy.
Picked up my Playstation controller and engaged in some Tony Hawk 2 for the first time in about 8 months. I blame Sheppy. And am grateful to him, as well, because I beat a level that was previously impossible for me (bloody game designers, hiding things up on balconies I never knew existed. *growl*).
Am listening to my father's recording of Leo Kottke's 1972 concert. It was broadcast over the radio, and the quality is really impressive. It's the earliest known recording of Kottke, and my father owns one of the only two copies in existence. Unless you count the .wav files on my computer. Heh. I LOVE LEO KOTTKE'S MUSIC. No, seriously, YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND. The man is inhumanly good. He plays a 12-string guitar, and when you're listening, it sounds like two or three guys playing. BUT IT'S JUST HIM. Plus, he's a riot in between songs. Added bonus!
Hum hum, what else has been going on recently? Oh! I'm reading a book called Forever about an Irishman who comes to New York before America declares independence and lives for eternity as long as he doesn't leave the island of Manhattan. So he basically watches New York City develop over two centuries. So far, it's mostly been about his childhood in Ireland (during the earliest confusing times of Protestant vs. Catholic) and about how he seeks revenge for the murder of his parents. I'm about a third finished, and I'm very much in love with the story. It's not the prettiest story, but it's incredibly well-told.
Think I'd better close my curtains before the room heats up.
Should also sleep a bit. Perhaps.
