(What, again?)

General schedule update, for those wondering where I'll be and why I won't be available much:

My grandpa's health has been declining and this week is particularly bad. He's at the hospital right now, and I'm going to be spending most of my free time this weekend helping him and Nancy out. (This does not apply to JAST plans because I will go insane without you, ladies.)

I'm out of town next weekend (Labor Day) for Eric's college friends' wedding, and then about two weeks after I get back, my aunt Nancy is having thyroid surgery (on the 15th). She'll be radioactive for about a week after that because of the procedure. She's not allowed near the dog or Grandpa in that time, so I'm helping then, too.

Eric's still recovering from mono (go ahead and make all the "kissing disease" jokes you want - I've heard 'em all this week), and teaching his classes is probably going to keep him from healing entirely for awhile. It's a bummer, but he's holding up well and still managing to get work done on his dissertation and job search materials. Good lad.

Would those of you who pray keep them in mind this month?

Just briefly, other life stuff:

I'm officially "serious" about taking up individual computer consulting as a side business and eventually a means of steady(-ish) income. Projects keep falling in my lap and I hear the phrase "Hey Allison, can you help me with my computer?" at least once a day. I've been helping everyone for free and building up my skills and knowledge all the time, and I finally feel like I'm getting a good handle on it all. It's an ever-changing industry, and I'm more interested in helping individuals and not-for-profits than businesses, so finding steady work will be next to impossible. BUT. I'm excited by the prospect, and I like/love the challenge of solving problems, it fits my lifestyle pretty well, and I can take it with me anywhere (which is good for the whole "when Eric gets a job in another state" thing). I'm not gonna get rich at it, and I'll probably have to be certified in a few things over the years, and I'll DEFINITELY need to find a way to not turn into a blob who sits in front of her computer 16 hours a day, but it's a solid idea and I'm going to keep exploring it.

On another note, computers suck, the end.

Hope you're all doing well! Ask me more questions! Tell me fun things that are happening with you!
