Russian folk music for the win!
Mar. 13th, 2007 05:13 pmMy review of last night's Russian music thing: A-OK!
While probably not for everyone, listening to the minor harmonies, mournful wedding songs, and Tuvan throat singing (*) could not have been a better way to spend 90 minutes of my evening.
It has also rekindled my interest in being in a small, accapella group. Any takers? Wanna get together and harmonize? ;-) ;-) ;-)
Seriously, though, springtime is for singing. :-)
(*) Tuvan singers have the amazing ability to sing two notes at once - a low drone accompanied by a lilting higher melody. They can harmonize with themselves! It's really very neat!
