Um. What it says above.

Had a remarkably good holiday weekend, in spite of Baby Brother & Co. raiding my parents' kitchen rather noisily at 4 a.m. night before last. Having only just drifted off when they made their loud and intrusive appearance, and naturally finding it impossible to fall asleep even after they departed in a similarly noisy and disruptive manner, suffice it to say that I did not get what one might term 'quality sleep.' Almost missed my dinner date w/Sheppy for sleeping in so late when I finally crashed four hours later. *sigh* Siblings.

And apart from one minor blip with Sheppy-plans (which was corrected with the aforementioned dinner), the rest of the weekend was nice. Got some decent sleep (for the most part), plenty of exercise (surprising, no?), and TONS of fanfic reading done, heh heh. I'm inordinately pleased about the last one there. Suz's fic, which is my current obsession, is among the best out there, along with Jojo, A.j., Little Red, Tere C., MichelleV, Denise, Jo R., Sally Reeve, Noda, Alli Snow, Vicky James, Pough, Doc, DustDevil, and Nanda. And others. But those are my favorites.

Anyway, with the fanfic obsession combined with the screwy sleep-schedule carry-over from the weekend, I didn't sleep last night either.

So yeah. I could do with a cup of coffee. Or ten. Should've brought my wallet. Drat.

And now I hear my co-worker Jeff coming to greet me and to no doubt giving me some dull, tedious, and ultimately necessary task.

Ciao!

Not that anyone who reads this cares, but I'm posting it anyway because Scott McCloud and everyone on this list ROCKS

That is all.

The sunset tonight was ... unearthly.

Imagine a sherbet-orange horizon peeking through the glistening wet trunks in a jungle, everything sparkling with new moisture in the light rain. The rainclouds themselves are barely substantial, and as you move along, they evaporate to reveal a rainbow.

Imagine that when the rain dissipates, it leaves behind a riot of color in the sky, with a wide swath of blue arcing across it straight towards the sun, mirroring in the sky a road disappearing off into the distance.

And then the color just... goes. Not sudden, but not gradual either. One moment the heavens are alive with a pulsing, soul-striking light, and seconds later, everything is dim, mellow, and deceptively ordinary.

As you make your way to the door, all around you, you can hear fat droplets worming their way down the leaves and meeting the slick asphalt with satisfying *plops!* that accompany only exactly this kind of rain.

Then you walk inside with a little smile on your face, knowing you've been a part of something unique and precious, witness to something that will never come again.

And it fills you with a soft joy that almost - almost - hurts.
